When your down to guns and no Missles left on the racks couldnt you essentially get someone to circle away from you then drop the nose and flee using speed to get away from gun range and escape if your jet was faster or comparable.

I still hold to my opinion that retiring the F-14 was a mistake. I know this is only a simulation, but i think it makes a damned good case for the F-14 still being able to be very capable in today's battlespace. I mean, hell, look at the F-15....it's almost as old, and we're STILL using it. We should have built that new batch of F-14's the Navy asked for, and continued production into the future, we should have done the upgrades the Navy wanted, we should have continued to refine the living shit out of the design. If Cheney was REALLY so concerned about Iran having them, we could have easily erased their entire F-14 fleet with no issue....with an F-14 (how ironic would that have been?).

Gripen prefers to tagteam it with datalinks, sensor fusion and meteor strikes, while the Flanker is like the ogre ninja - it's massive, yet it still manages to sneak up behind you and then you're dead. Bit of a mismatch to put the Gripen in this situation but does demonstrate pretty well just how lethal the Su-30SM is in a knife fight

The real Gripen has auto aim cannon from front and auto release when high probability to hit from rear - so you could kind of hold in the fire button...

I often find myself thinking it's a shame that nobody created an aircraft following the Northrop Grumman Switchblade concept. A variable sweep wing aircraft with forward-swept wings would be an interesting machine to see in action.
